Hi
My name is Marjorie and I am 75 years old. I went along to Zumba Gold in Chairs class in March last year at Heatherside Community Centre. A member of our local W. I. mentioned it to me, so my friend Jo-Anne and I thought we would give it a go. As we are in the “older” generation we need some exercise and motivation.
Sveta made us so welcome with her lovely smile and enthusiasm. We sat on the “chairs” and the music started and we were in the world of intoxicating rhythm. There were only about 6 of us to start with now the class has grown to about 14. You don’t have to be “old” to do Zumba class.
About myself. I have had both hips replaced and suffer with arthritis in the knee and ankle. Now Zumba Gold in Chairs helps me to keep supple. And its important to keep your joints moving, otherwise you will cease up. Sure its fast and furious, but the music sweeps you along – makes the heart pump, the blood around and get out of breath, which is important too. I do feel fitter.
Some Mondays come around and I feel, do I want to go? Yes, I do!!! I feel so much better after our session and afterwards have a chat with other students, some are even in their 80s ( so I am a youngster ). Its not just for the young. If you can sit on the “ chair” there is no excuse for not exercising. When our class is over my friend Jo-Anne and I go back to my house to have a well earned cup of tea. ( no biscuits or cake)
